Breif Description Of The Program : We are delighted to announce the National South Kerala Beach Trekking cum Training Expedition 2024 for the first time for our members. Kerala is known for its immaculate blue and green landscapes and promises travelers an unforgettable seaside staycation. The Kerala beaches are really unique with all aspects of beauty and serenity. The Kerala beaches are not just about sand and sea, they also offer a glimpse into the state’s rich cultural heritage, lush greenery, and traditional coastal lifestyle.
Purpose: The purpose of the program is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigors of plodding, with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting national integration.
Program fee includes: Accommodation on sharing bases, Transportation, Entry Fee, Ticket for Poovar Island Cruise.
Day wise Schedule:
Day 1 : Reporting at YHAI base camp (Government Youth Hostel Kochuveli Trivandrum).
Day 2 : Transfer by bus.
Beach trekking (11 Kms) on Shanghumukham Beach and Kovalam Beach and visit to SreePadmanabhaSwamy Temple
Shanghumukham Beach is located near the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, is a stunning coastal destination known for its serene and picturesque environment and Majestic Sunsets, Sculptures and Art, Aviation Viewing Point, Calm and clean Environment, Cultural significance and Recreational Activities.
Kovalam Beach offers captivating blend of natural beauty, vibrant atmosphere and diverse activities. The most famous attractions of Kovalam Beach areDistinctiveCrescent-Shaped Beaches, Lighthouse Beach, Crystal Clear Waters, Golden Sands, Palm backed shoreline, Ayurvedic treatments and spas, water sports on beach etc.
Day 3 : Transfer by bus to Varkala Beach and visit to Anjengo Fort and Light House (5 Kms Trekking).
Varkala Beach is also known as Papanasam Beach and is a stunning coastal destination known for its unique geological features, serene atmosphere, Dramatic cliffs, Golden Sands and Naturel Springs.Anjengo Fort is a historical fort located in the coastal town of Anchuthengu in Kerala. The Fort reflects and offer both natural beauty and historical significance, Historical Architechture, Scenic Location, Lush Greenery, Panoramic views cultural heritage etc.
Day 4 : Transfer by bus to PoovarBeach and visit to Vellar Arts and Craft Village (Trekking 4 Kms).
Poovar beach is located in the southern part of Kerala and is serene and picturesque destination that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, Golden sands and Clear waters, Lush Greenery and Houseboats and Boat Rides.
Day 5 : Check out after Breakfast.
Who Can Participate The minimum and maximum age for a YHAI member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Underage and over age will not be considered in any case. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a “Trekking Medical Certificate”
How to Participate: Members desirous of joining this program may apply online through our website www.yhaindia.org, or, through offline mode by sending the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD amount 9800/- of requisite amount in favor of “Youth Hostels Association of India”, payable at New Delhi. Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI.

Safety & Security:Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking route for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and any type of unforeseen eventualities.

Cancellation Method:
1. Participants booked online will do online cancellation minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.
2. Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to trekking@yhaindia.org minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.
Only cancellation done as per above method will be eligible for credit shell/refund. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell/refund.
Cancellation Policy:
The Participant, who cancels the programme by serving request minimum 10 days prior to his/her reporting date as per above terms and conditions of “Cancellation Method”, is eligible to get the credit shell or refund as follows:
A. Credit Shell:
1. In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2025.
2. If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2025.
3. If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.
4. Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again.
5. You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.
6. The credit shell can only be used in booking of adventure programs organised by YHAI. The credit shell will not be used in taking memberships and hostel bookings.

B : Refund
Participants can opt for a 50% refund instead of 100% credit shell if they wish to. The conditions of “Cancellation Method” will be the same as mentioned above. The participant has to inform either offline or online minimum 10 days prior to his reporting date. If the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date the refund request shall not be considered.
Note : If any program will be cancelled due to Natural Calamity / Government Restriction / Cancellation of Permission or any other reasons, YHAI will be accountable only for program fees and not other expenses which participants have made for joining the program. In these circumstances the decision for participation fees will be considered by the YHAI and will be bound to all.
