*About Program:
 
From the last 48 years Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing National Himalayan Trekking Expeditions in the heart of Himalayas with all the effort and courage bringing together, with the joy of exploring Mother Nature, we are organizing National Mountain Biking Expedition, yet again, to give you memories for life from Aut to Jalori Pass& Tirthan Valley and back.
 
*Purpose:
 
The purpose of the expedition is to introduce the YHAI members to Mountain Biking as an outdoor adventure sport and also to make use of it as a Green transport in cities reducing congestion and pollution. Also after swimming this is the second best non-impact exercise in the world. Also we aim to inspire the spirit of National integration with the fun of Adventure sport.
Jalori pass is a steady climb from Aut base camp with beautiful views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar ranges. You will also be cycling in Tirthan Valleynamed after the pristine Tirthan river, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site – The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), spread over an area of 1100 sq kilometers. It is a scenic landscape & heaven for bird photography & trekkers. On the way you will be cycling through lot of small towns & villages. Sojha & Jibhi camp being termed as at par in beauty with any European mountain vistas. It is also a challenging route for cyclists and you will be amidst the beautiful greenery of Himachal.
 
* Day Wise schedule:
 
#Day 1: Report at Base Camp- Aut Base Camp near Mehak Dry fruits. (3500 ft.)
Aut is a small town just after crossing the Jalori pass tunnel. River Beas is flowing just
behind the campsite with Mountains all around. Rest day for the participants.
 
#Day 2: Acclimatization and Training
Morning exercise to warm you up. A walk to a beautiful village and gain height. Return by lunch time.
Evening cycling to know about using gears in a cycle and safety rules & distribution of cycles and safety gears.
 
#Day 3: Biking to Manglore – 20 kms (4000 ft.)
Adventure starts with cycling through the Jalori tunnel 3 kms. Crossing bridges across winding rivers. Having packed lunch under a tree or near a stream. Banjar is a small town nearby. Fagu Puul nearby is a nice place to walk to after reaching the camp.
 
#Day 4: Biking to Jibhi – 17 kms (6000 ft.)
Get ready to cycle through narrow roads and ever increasing altitude. Winding roads and greenery all in the route. Jibhi is one of the most green and beautiful campsites. With a waterfall nearby to spend time and relax after cycling.
 
#Day 5: Biking to Sojha – 8 kms –(8500 ft.)
The views of snow capped peaks of the Dhauladhar ranges will fill you with happiness and the local tea shops for tea and local snacks. The most challenging route greets you with tough hairpin bend roads with steep gradients. Breathtaking views on the way. Sojha is having a cinematic view of deep valleys on one side and tree lined mountains on the other. Relax and unwind as you have climbed the steepest part of the route. Nice nature walk trails around the campsite.
 
#Day 6: Visit to Jalori Pass (10,000 ft) & Biking to UNESCO World Heritage Site – Tirthan Valley camp 23km (5000ft)
Named after the pristine Tirthan river, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site – The Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP), spread over an area of 1100 sq kilometers. It is a scenic landscape & heaven for bird photography & trekkers.
 
#Day 7: Biking to Youth Hostel Aut – 31km-(3500 ft.) followed by Certificate Distribution
 
#Day 8: Group breaks after breakfast

* How To Reach:
 
For National Himalayan Mountain Biking, our base camp is at Aut, which is on the Kullu-Manali Highway. It is 28km short from Kullu. Direct bus services are available from ISBT Delhi, Chandigarh and other parts.
 
* Who can Participate:
 
The minimum age for a member to join the program is 15 years to 65 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a “Trekking Medical Certificate”.
 
* What participants should bring along:
 
Dress code: Cycling padded shorts / three quarters /tracks, cycling jersey or dry-fit / quick-dry T-shirts, Jackets, Sports Shoes, 3 pair Socks, buff, Cycling Gloves, Rain Jacket, Innerwear, Baselayer/thermal(upper and lower).
 
Important Note- Participants are requested to bring below documents at the time of reporting at base camp.
 
1) 2 Copies of ID proof
2) Trekking Admit Card & Medical certificate
3) 2 Passport size photographs
4) Membership Card
 
Accessories: Cycling glasses, Sipper(to fit bottle cage), Small tiffin box, Enameled or Steel Mug/tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Cold Cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Medicines (As per your personal requirement, which you regularly use at home and Crepe Bandage 4in*1, Micropore tape 1/2inch*1, Bandaids, Cough lozenges/ Kanthil or other, Vicks Vaporub, Coldarin, Clortrimazole cream and powder, Paracetamol*10 Mupirocin cream, Diclofenac gel, Lopamide*10, Azithromycin and Electral), Camer, Personal Helmet(we will provide the same if not brought by the participant)
 
*EQUIPMENT PROVIDED BY YHAI
 
MTB cycle /Helmet /Knee & Elbow guard /Cycling Gloves /Rucksacks /Reflector jackets.
Personal Cycling gloves/helmets can be brought along but we are providing the same.
 
*Special Cases: *
 
On special case, if the person is medically fit and a regular cyclist then he/she may be allowed to register for the program through offline mode (decision will be final only on management discretion and seat availability). In this case, he/she has to produce Indemnity bond on plain paper from his respective state and has to submit the same along with his Registration form.
 
* How to Participate:
 
*Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply online by paying requisite program fee without transport online booking amount i.e. Rs 7500/-
We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.
After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry “Admit Card”, “Trekking Medical Certificate” & “Membership Card”(Print out of temporary membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.
 
*Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply on the prescribed “Trekking Registration Form” duly supported by a “Trekking Medical Certificate”, along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.7500/- in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. Cancellation
 
Cancellation Method:
 
1) Participants booked online will do online cancellation minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.
2) Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to trekking@yhaindia.org minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.
 
Only cancellation done as per above method will be eligible for credit shell/refund. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell/refund.
 
Cancellation Policy:
 
The Participant, who cancels the programme by serving request minimum 10 days prior to his/her reporting date as per above terms and conditions of “Cancellation Method”, is eligible to get the credit shell or refund as follows:
 
(a) Credit Shell:-
 
1) In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2025.
2) If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2025.
3) If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.
4) Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again.
5) You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.
6) The credit shell can only be used in booking of adventure programs organised by YHAI. The credit shell will not be used in taking memberships and hostel bookings.
 
OR
 
(b) Refund:-
 
Participants can opt for a 50% refund instead of 100% credit shell if they wish to. The conditions of “Cancellation Method” will be the same as mentioned above. The participant has to inform either offline or online minimum 10 days prior to his reporting date. If the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date the refund request shall not be considered.
 
Note: If any program will be cancelled due to Natural Calamity / Government Restriction / Cancellation of Permission or any other reasons, YHAI will be accountable only for program fees and not other expenses which participants have made for joining the program. In these circumstances the decision for participation fees will be considered by the YHAI and will be bound to all.
