Program

Breif Description Of The Program : We are pleased to inform you that YHAI is organizing National Himalayan Brahmatal Trekking Cum Training Expedition 2024 in Garwal Himalayas Region from 20th Dec to 31st Dec, 2024. At the altitude of 11155 ft Its lies in the lap of Mt. Trishul & Mt. Nandaghunti massif. It is a high altitude lake in the Chamoli district, Uttarakhand state of India. This lake is a popular trekking destination, throughout the year. This is one of The best 6-7 days trek in valley of gods, Uttarakhand.
 
Mandatory: Trekking Medical Certificate will be compulsory at the time of reporting only (with 30 days of validity ) duly signed by registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS / MD only) along with his registration no. and stamp. Please bring xerox copy of Admit card, Membership Card, ID Proof Card and Medical Certificate (Orginal).
 
Day wise Schedule:
Day 1 : Reporting at Base Camp Loha Jung.
Day 2 : Acclimatization walk, Orientation.
Day 3 : Trek to Bekaltal camp(9931 ft)/Telandi Camp (10170 ft) from Loha Jung Base Camp (7.5 km), 5-6 hours Aprox.
Day 4 : Trek to Brahma Tal camp (10456 ft), from Bekaltal/ Telandi camp. (7 km) 6 hours Aprox.
Day 5 : Trek to Begam tok (4975 ft) From Brahma Tal camp, via Brahma Tal Top (12175 ft) and Jhandi Top 11227 ft (8.5 km’s). 7 hours Aprox.
Day 6 : Trek Base Camp Lohajung via Begam village(8900 ft,5 km Aprox).
Day 7 : Group breaks after breakfast.

Total round Trekking Route- 32 km. (approx.)

Who Can Participate The minimum age for a member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered in any case. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a “Trekking Medical Certificate”not older than 30 days.
 
How To Reach:Reporting Point: Kathgodam railway station.Regular Bus Train services available from Major cities. The nearest airport is Pantnagar Distance 34 Km.

We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.

After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry two copy of “Admit Card”, ” Original Trekking Medical Certificate” (Validity 30 days only)& “Membership Card”(Print out of membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.

 
Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed “Trekking Registration Form” duly supported by a along with a Demand Draft of requisite amount of Rs 9500/- in favour of “ Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. Safety & Security:Extensive and painstaking preparations have done into the planning of routes for your safety. Our Field Staffs have been visiting the area to check all in details, every care has been taken to ensure safety. Youth Hostels Association of India Can Not Be Held Responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen casualties. If Participants desire to join and other activities they may do so at their own cost and responsibility and only after finishing the program and checking out.
 
What Participants Should Bring Along :

1. Trekking Shoes (Preferably Water proof, high ankle, Nonskid).

2. Sandal or Chappal (Washable and quick dry).

3. Socks- Cotton and woolen 4 pair (One pair only for night time).

4. Trousers (Light weight, no jeans, no cargo preferably quick dry).

5. Inner Garments (as per requirement).

6. Cotton T-shirts (Full and Half sleeves both).

7. Trek Suite (Complete set).

8. Wind Cheater (Upper and Lower with hoods, preferable water repelled).

9. Rain Coat Set. Upper and lower with Hoods.

10. Sweater or Woolen Jersey. Cotswool set Upper and Lower.

11. Good quality Jacket.

12. Woolen and Water proof Gloves.

13. Bandana or Throat Cover.

14. Sun Cap and Woolen Cap.

15. Sun Glass (Polarized will be best).

16. Walking Stick.

17. Ruck Sack (If you have good one, otherwise will be provided by YHAI).

18. Torch (With spare cells).

19. Thermal flask, Water Bottle and Water Purifier.

20. Lunch Box, leak proof (For Packed Lunch).

21. Plate, Mug, Spoon.

22. Needle and Thread with spare Buttons.

23. Toilet paper.

24. Towel, Soap, Toothpaste and Tooth brush.

25. Boroline, Vaseline, Sun protection Cream (SPF 30 or above).

26. Pen and Note Book.

27. Passport size photographs, ID proof original and Xerox, Membership cards.

28. Original Medical certificate, Indemnity bond if above 60 years.

29. Medicine (As per your personal requirement, which regularly use at home).

30. Camera with spare cells (Optional).

31. Personal things regularly use at your home.

 
Food & Water Supplies: YHAI provides nutritious, vegetarian and good quality meals which includes Morning tea, breakfast, packed lunch, evening tea (in the camp), dinner and after dinner tea/coffee/Bournvita, shall be provided. Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons etc.

Additional Notes:
Notice to Participants:

1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

2. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

3. This is an environment-friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag, water bottle or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

4. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Uttarakhand is an offence.

 
Special Casual leave:The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
 
Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship. Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents. In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
 
Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women : YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.
 
Note: If any program will be cancelled due to Natural Calamity / Government Restriction / Cancellation of Permission or any other reasons , Yhai will be accountable only for program fees and not other expenses which participants have made for joining the program. In these circumstances the decision for participation fees will be considered by the Yhai and will be bound to all.
 
Cancellation Rules:

1. Participants booked online will do online cancellation minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.

2. Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to trekking@yhaindia.org, minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.

Only cancellation done as per above method will be eligible for credit shell. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell.

 
Cancellation Policy:

1. In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2025. No refund will be applicable for any cancellation of seat.

2. If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2025.

3. If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.

4. Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again.

5. You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.

6. The credit shell can only be used in booking of adventure programs organised by YHAI. The credit shell will not be used in taking memberships and hostel bookings.
