Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the National Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition in the Dalhousie region of Western Himalayas for the last 27 years.


Program

Breif Description Of The Program : Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the National Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition in the Dalhousie region of Western Himalayas for the last 27 years. On a popular demand from our members we are once again organizing this expedition from the 09th of December-2023 to the 31st December. 2023 Dalhousie is the very beautiful Hill Station in Himachal Pradesh. Spectacular snow-covered Dhauladhar Mountains are also visible from this enchanting town. Come and see what lies beyond the hills, peep into unseen and have a feel of snow. You are welcome to join this trail on any day during the scheduled period.
 
Day wise Schedule:
Day 1 : Reporting at Base Camp YH Dalhousie (6,460 ft)
Day 2 : Training/Acclimatization
Day 3 : Base camp Trek to Kalatop ( 8000 ft)
Day 4 : Kalatop camp to Khajjiar camp- 11km/ 7hr
Day 5 : Khajjiar camp to Mangla camp- 11km/ 6hr
Day 6 : After breakfast transfer by bus from Mangla camp to Base Camp. Certificate Distribution and Recreation Activity & Check out after lunch.

How to Join:
Online Booking Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online by paying requisite program fee along with online booking amount Rs. 8000/-

We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.

After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry two copy of “Admit Card”, “Trekking Medical Certificate” (Validity 30 days only)& “Membership Card”(Print out of membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.

Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed “Trekking Registration Form” duly supported by a along with a Demand Draft of requisite amount of Rs 8000/- in favour of “ Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. The Trekking registration Form and Demand Draft may be sent to following address:
 
Note:Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred. The medical certificate of the head of the family will be submitted and the head of the family certify that all the family members are medically fit. Husband and wife should be members.

All Offline Booking confirmation is subject to the availability of seats. National Office will send the Admit Card along with a confirmation letter to the participant at the address mentioned in the “Trekking Registration Form”.

Members can also apply through our YHAI Units or State Branches in their respective areas.

N.B: Without admit card and Medical fitness Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.

Notice to Participant:

1. Deviation from the set schedule of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.

2. Staying other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

3. This is an environment-friendly camp. Do not litter any wrappers in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag, or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and dump in the dustbin at base camp.

4. Washing of Clothes are strictly restricted in camps. Ignore washing clothes in the camps.

5. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Carrying any Non-biodegradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offense.

 
How To Reach The Base Camp:Bus Service: Regular bus service from Delhi, Pathankot and other parts of Punjab. Roadways buses and private taxis are available.
Nearest Railway Station: Pathankot Cantt. On main Delhi/ Howrah- Jammu section of Northern Railways.
By Air: While Dalhousie does not have its own airport, cities close to this hill station do have one. The closest domestic airport is in Pathankot which is just 75 kilometers away from Dalhousie but is connected to New Delhi only. The second nearest airport is Gaggal airport which is in the Kangra district and is approximately140 kilometers away from the town. You can hire a bus from Kangra to Dalhousie, which will charge a nominal fee of INR 150 only or take a private cab/taxi transfer.
 
Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
 
Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship. Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents. In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
 
Adventure Scholarship for Physically Challenged Youth: YHAI announced 50% adventure scholarships of to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates (Disability Certificate).
 
Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women : YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.

Food & Water Supplies: YHAI provides nutritious, vegetarian and good quality meals which includes Morning tea, breakfast, packed lunch, evening tea (in the camp), dinner and after dinner tea/coffee/Bournvita, shall be provided. Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons etc.

4. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in West Bengal is an offence.

 
Safety & Security:Extensive and painstaking preparations have done into the planning of routes for your safety. Our Field Staffs have been visiting the area to check all in details, every care has been taken to ensure safety. Youth Hostels Association of India Can Not Be Held Responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen casualties. If Participants desire to join and other activities they may do so at their own cost and responsibility and only after finishing the program and checking out.
 
Note: If any program will be cancelled due to Natural Calamity / Government Restriction / Cancellation of Permission or any other reasons , Yhai will be accountable only for program fees and not other expenses which participants have made for joining the program. In these circumstances the decision for participation fees will be considered by the Yhai and will be bound to all.
 
Cancellation Rules:

1. Participants booked online will do online cancellation minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.

2. Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to trekking@yhaindia.org, minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.

Only cancellation done as per above method will be eligible for credit shell. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell.

 
Cancellation Policy:

1. In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2024. No refund will be applicable for any cancellation of seat.

2. If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2024.

3. If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.

4. Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again.

5. You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.

6. The credit shell can only be used in booking of adventure programs organised by YHAI. The credit shell will not be used in taking memberships and hostel bookings.
