BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:
 
Nestled at a height of 3,024 meters (9,921 ft) in Uttarakhand, India, Dodital is a stunning freshwater lake renowned for its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking surroundings. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in India, drawing nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts from all over.
 
Dodital is enveloped by dense oak woods, pine, deodar, and vibrant rhododendrons, offering an idyllic setting for an unforgettable trekking experience. The lake teems with fish and is home to rare species like the Himalayan Golden Trout, making it a haven for fishing enthusiasts as well.
 
Beyond its natural beauty, Dodital holds significant mythological importance. It is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha and the site where Lord Shiva beheaded Ganesha, adding a layer of spiritual intrigue to its allure.
 
For trekkers, Dodital presents an ultimate destination that combines the thrill of adventure with the serene embrace of nature.

DAY WISE SCHEDULE:
 
Day 1: Report at Dehradun Railway Station and Drive to Uttarkashi Camp (165 kms)

08:30 AM: Arrive at Dehradun Railway Station or Dehradun Hill Bus Station.
Transport: Dedicated transport will be arranged for pickup from Dehradun Railway Station to Uttarkashi.
Travel Time: The journey typically takes 7-8 hours, depending on road conditions.
Scenic Route: The scenic beauty along the route is sure to refresh you, as you feel like walking through paradise.
Arrival: Reach Uttarkashi by evening.
Accommodation: Overnight stay at a hotel in Uttarkashi. Hotel Kirti Palace, Uttarkashi
Meals included – Tea with snacks, Dinner
 
Day 2: Journey to Agoda Village and Trek to Bebra (2 km Appx.)

· Morning: Enjoy a healthy breakfast before departing.
· Travel: Drive to Agoda village by Jeep around 20 km and it will take around 1.5 hrs, immersing yourself in the vibrant landscapes.
· Trek Start: Begin your trek from Agoda village to Bebra.
· Scenic Views: Gaze upon the stunning DayaraBugyal trail and the majestic Bakaria Top in the distance.
· Terrain: Mostly downhill after Agoda village, making for a pleasant trek.
· Arrival: Reach Bebra Camp by afternoon.
· Accommodation: Overnight stay at Bebra Village, amidst nature’s serene embrace.

Day 3: Trek from Bebra Camp to Manjhi (9 km Appx.)

· Morning: Start your day with a nourishing breakfast amidst the serene surroundings of Bebra Camp.
· Trek Begins: Embark on your trek to Manjhi, where the initial two hours presents a challenging yet rewarding steep climb.
· Scenic Beauty: As you continue, immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery, with stunning views of alpine trees and lush forests that invigorate your spirit.
· Manjhi Arrival: Arrive at Manjhi, a charming seasonal village. Here, you’ll find makeshift shepherds’ huts, adding to the rustic charm.
· Evening: Settle in for the night in cozy tents near the shepherd huts, experiencing the tranquility and unique ambiance of this picturesque village.

Day 4: Trek from Manjhi to Dodital, Overnight Stay at Dodital Campsite (5 km Appx.)

· Morning: Savor a delightful breakfast before embarking on your trek to Dodital.
· Trek Begins: Set off on an easy and well-maintained route through enchanting Rhododendron, Pine, and Oak forests.
· Scenic Beauty: Revel in the serene surroundings as you make your way to the stunning Dodital lake.
· Destination: Arrive at Dodital, a picturesque lake renowned for its breathtaking beauty and the famous Himalayan Trout fish.
· Evening: Settle into your campsite near Dodital Lake, where the tranquil waters and serene environment provide the perfect end to your day.

Day 5: Trek from Dodital to Darwa Pass and Back, Overnight Stay at Dodital Campsite (4 + 4 km Appx.)

· Early Morning: Set out early with a packed breakfast for an exhilarating trek to Darwa Pass. The ascent is filled with nature’s splendor, offering a mix of challenges and excitement.
· Scenic Trek: As you make your way up, absorb the stunning beauty of the Himalayas, with the trail passing through lush meadows, snow at pass and offering breathtaking views at every turn.You will also experience the thrill of encountering snow along the way.
· Reaching the Summit: Upon reaching Darwa Pass, prepare to be mesmerized by panoramic views of some of the most significant and majestic Himalayan peaks, including the Gangotri group, Bandarpoonch, and Swargarohini. This vantage point offers an unparalleled opportunity to witness the grandeur of these snow-capped giants.
· Relaxation at the Summit: Take a well-deserved break at the summit, soaking in the awe-inspiring views and the fresh mountain air.
· Descent: After a refreshing pause, begin your descent back towards Dodital, retracing your steps through the scenic trail.
· Evening: Arrive back at the Dodital Campsite for a restful evening. Enjoy the serene ambiance of the lake and the comforting atmosphere of your campsite.

Day 6: Trek from Dodital to Agoda Village (16 km appx.) and Transfer to Uttarkashi by Jeep, Overnight Stay at Uttarkashi Camp

· Morning: Start your day with a wholesome breakfast at Dodital Campsite, reenergizing for the trek ahead.
· Trek Down to Agoda Village: Set out on a 16 km trek, retracing the scenic path you took to reach Dodital. This route offers a delightful journey downhill through lush forests and serene landscapes, making it a relaxing and enjoyable trek.
· Rhythmic Descent: As you descend, you’ll pass through the familiar rhododendron, pine, and oak forests, providing a sense of nostalgia and tranquility.
· Birdsong Accompaniment: The chirping of birds and the rustling leaves create a natural symphony, adding to the serene ambiance of your trek.
· Midway Rest: Take periodic breaks to soak in the scenic beauty and perhaps capture some memorable photographs. Hydrate and refuel with some snacks.
· Arrival at Agoda Village: By midafternoon, you’ll reach Agoda Village. Reflect on the journey, as the welcoming sight of the village greets you.
· Transfer to Uttarkashi: Post arrival, board a Jeep arranged for your transfer to Uttarkashi. The drive offers more scenic views as you journey through the hilly terrain.
· Evening: Arrive at Uttarkashi by evening. Settle into the Uttarkashi Camp, where you can unwind after a fulfilling day of trekking.
· Overnight Stay: Enjoy a comfortable night’s rest at Uttarkashi Camp, reminiscing about the adventures of the day and the serene beauty of the Himalayas.

Day 7: Programme Ends after breakfast

· Morning: Enjoy a hearty breakfast, cherishing the final moments in the serene surroundings of Uttarkashi Camp.
· Reflection: As you pack your belongings and prepare to depart, take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey you’ve just experienced.
Trekkers will leave with their hearts full and minds enriched by the wonders of the Himalayas. From the initial drive to Uttarkashi, through the charming villages, and up to the majestic Darwa Pass, every step has been an adventure. Along the way, you’ve encountered the raw beauty of rhododendron, pine, and oak forests, experienced the serenity of Dodital Lake, and felt the thrill of summiting Darwa Pass with its breathtaking views of the Gangotri group, Bandarpoonch, and Swargarohini.
· Farewell: As you say your goodbyes to the guides and fellow trekkers, remember the laughter, the stories shared around the campfire, and the sense of accomplishment you carry with you.

Who Can Participate?
This expedition is open to YHAI members who are 18 years and older and physically fit. Participants below 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants above 60 years will be allowed subject to approval from the Programme Coordinator or Authorized Persons in offline mode.

HOW TO REACH THE REPORTING CAMP:
 
By Air
Dehradun’s airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, which is located 27 km approx away from the railway station. All airlines have regular flights to Dehradun. Mostly flights arrival time is around afternoon.
 
By Bus
Dehradun is well connected to most cities such as Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh by Volvo, Deluxe, semi-deluxe and Uttarakhand State Transport buses. These buses arrive and depart from the Dehradun Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) near Clement Town. Buses depart from here every 15 minutes to one hour. Other bus terminals in Dehradun are the Mussoorie Bus Station, located at the Dehradun Railway Station which has regular bus services to Uttarkashi.
 
By Train
Dehradun is connected by regular train services to cities Delhi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ujjain, Chennai and Varanasi. The Dehradun Railway Station is located 1-2 kilometers away from the city centre and should take you only ten minutes, depending on traffic. Dehradun is connected to the rest of the country by trains such as the Shatabdi Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, Dehradun AC Express, Doon Express, Bandra Express and the Amritsar-Dehradun Express among others.
 
Road/Self Drive
A popular tourist destination, Dehradun has a strong road network, which makes for a pleasant driving experience. Dehradun is well connected by road to cities like Delhi by the NH 58 and 72 is approximately a 4 hour drive. Dehradun is also well connected to cities like Haridwar and Rishikesh

Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed registration form duly supported by YHAI prescribed Medical Certificate along with or Deposit Slip/NEFT Challan Copy or a DD/Cheque of requisite amount ?9600/- in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India, Delhi State Branch” payable at New Delhi.
 
N.B: Booking is based on first come first serve All Offline Booking confirmation is subject to availability of seats. Without admit card and Medical Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.
 
ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:
Accommodation in Home Stay/Tent on sharing basis will be provided.
 
FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES:
Simple, nutritious vegetarian meals will be provided. On the first day, our programme will start with tea and snacks, so participants will need to arrange their own breakfast and lunch.
 
TRANSPORTATION:
One side transportation will be provided by YHAI from Dehradun to Uttarkashi by Tempo Traveler/Jeep.
Transportation can be organized from Uttarkashi for return journey for group.
Cost of the cab – Rs 5,000 per vehicle (Approx) for a Jeep 7-seater.
 
WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:
Rucksack: 40-60 Ltr.
YHAI will provide a rucksack, you can carry your own rucksack, if you have.
Small Backpack/Day Pack: 10-20 Ltr.
Trekking Shoes: Sturdy and comfortable.
Floaters/Flip Flops: For wearing around the camp.
Socks: Multiple pairs, including woolen ones for warmth.
Rain Gear: Raincoat and Poncho.
Lighting: Torch (flashlight) with extra batteries.
Food Storage: Lunchbox.
Hydration: Water bottle.
Warm Clothing: Woolen garments such as jackets, sweaters, cap, gloves, and extra pairs of socks.
Sun Protection: Sun cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen cream.
Skin Care: Moisturizer and lip balm.
Personal Medical Kit: Essential medications and first aid supplies.
Hygiene Items: Soap and towel.
Tech Essentials: Camera and power bank.
General Clothing: Appropriate clothing layers for various weather conditions. Weather will be around zero to five degrees at higher camps in evening and morning.
Personal Utilities: Any personal items and utilities needed for the trek.
 
Exclusions:
1. Travel to Base Camp: Expenses for travel to and from the base camp are not included.
2. Personal Gear: Items such as trekking shoes, personal clothing, and other gear are not provided.
3. Personal Expenses: Costs for items like laundry, phone calls, and any other personal expenses are not covered.
4. Insurance: Personal accident insurance or any other insurance except for the group insurance provided.
5. Additional Food and Beverages: Any food and beverages outside of the provided meals are not included.
6. Medical Expenses: Any medical expenses beyond first aid and basic assistance are not covered.
7. Tips and Gratuities: Tips for guides, porters, and camp staff are not included.
8. Items not mentioned in inclusions.
 
SAFETY & SECURITY:
Trained and expert camp leaders will be available to provide guidance throughout the trek. Medicines and first aid/basic medical assistance will be available in the camp. While every precaution has been taken to ensure safety of participants, The Youth Hostels Association of India, Delhi State Branch will not be responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen circumstances.
 
Special Casual leave:
The trekking expedition organized by the Youth Hostels Association of India is approved by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel and Training), Government of India, as per Office Order No. 28016/3/89 Estt (A), dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in Central Government organizations can apply to the concerned authorities to avail special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office for up to 30 days in a calendar year.
 
Certificates
Participants who successfully complete the trek and adhere to the program’s discipline will be awarded certificates in recognition of their accomplishment.
 
Additional Notes
1. Prohibited Substances: Smoking, and the use of alcohol or narcotics in any form is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.
2. Route Adherence: Participants must adhere to the designated route of the program. Any deviation is not permitted. Participants wishing to join other activities may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after completing the program and checking out.
3. Accommodation: Staying outside the designated YHAI Camps is not allowed for the entire duration of the trek.
4. Environmental Responsibility: This is an environment-friendly trek. Do not litter or spoil the trail in any way. If you come across any litter, such as wrappers or plastic bags left by previous trekkers, please carry them with you and deposit them at the next camp.
5. Campfire Rules: Burning of wood during campfires is strictly prohibited to prevent deforestation and environmental damage.
 
Medical Certificate: A medical certificate is compulsory and must be submitted at the time of reporting for the trek.

Cancellation
 
CANCELLATION POLICY
 
1. Cancellation by the participants: In case you are unable to join the trek, you will receive a 50% refund of the program fee, which amounts to ?4800/-, provided that your cancellation request is received on or before 31st March 2025. Any cancellation requests received after this date will not be considered for a refund.
2. Cancellation by the organization: In case the cancellation due to natural calamity, government restrictions, cancellation of permissions, or any other unforeseen circumstances, YHAI will be accountable only for the program fees. Other expenses incurred by participants for joining the program will not be covered. In such situations, the decision regarding the refund of participation fees will be made by YHAI and will be final and binding on all participants.
