Youth Hostels Association of India, Meghalaya State Branch is organizing a 5 night 6 days Trekking, Caving and Nature Study Expedition in Meghalaya, covering the places in Shillong, Sohra (Cherrapunji) and Songpedeng (Dawki), from 18th April to 24th April 2022.
Breif Description Of The Program: Youth Hostels Association of India, Meghalaya State Branch is organizing a 5 night 6 days Trekking, Caving and Nature Study Expedition in Meghalaya, covering the places in Shillong, Sohra (Cherrapunji) and Songpedeng (Dawki), from 18th April to 24th April 2022. This is a good opportunity to see the scenic beauty as well as experience the climbing of more than thousand steps while returning from the Living Root Bridge called the “Living Root Double Decker Bridge” as well as the cleanliest river in Meghalaya.
Day Wise Schedule:
Day 1 : Reporting at Purbasha Guest House Laban Last Stop Shillong from 3 p.m. onwards. 6:30 p.m. orientation and training expedition date 18th April 2022 i.e. 1st day onwards.
Day 2 : Transfer by bus for trekking mainly from Mawphlang to visit the David Scott trail and night halt at Laitryngew(16 kms)
Day 3 : Transfer to Sohra (Cherrapunjee) for sightseeing including Mawsmai and Arwa cave, Wei Saw Dong and Nokalikai Waterfalls and night halt at Sohra (Cherrapunjee)
Day 4 : Transfer to Tyrna for trekking of famous double decker natural Root Bridge and Rainbow waterfalls and back to Shillong by bus.
Day 5 : Transfer by bus to Songpdeng (Dawki) and return to Shillong in the evening. Distribution of certificate, etc. will take place around 7 p.m.
Day 6 : Check out after breakfast by 9 a.m.

Accommodation Facilities: Concrete Community Hall/ Rooms
Food & Water Supplies: Simple vegetarian food and safe drinking water will be provioded.
What Participants Should Bring: Beside their own personal belongings, the participants need to carry jacket, t-shirt, umbrella/ raincoat, torch, trekking bag pack/rucksack, sneakers suitable for trekking/ trekking shoes, cap, sunglasses, tiffin box, spoon, cup, water bottle etc.
Additional Notes : Please note that this is an environment friendly trekking/expedition. Do not litter any wrapper or spoil the route in any way. In case you find any wrapper/ Plastic bags or anything left by participants on the way, please carry the same with you and dispose at the proper place. It may be mentioned that minimum physical fitness is desirable from the participants as the terrain is quite tough and challenging.
The Central Government employees can avail special casual leave as the Trekking Expedition organized by YHAI have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, (Dept. of Personnel and Training), Government of India, vide office order No. 28016/89-Estt (A), dated 25th October, 1989.
Participants who successfully completed the expedition and abide by the discipline of the programme will be awarded Certificate.
Safety & Security: Participants shall not hold any of YHAI Organizer responsible wholly or partially for any injury, accidents, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities during expeditions.
Cancellation Policy : In case any participants is unable to join the program, application for cancellation in writing or email to the State Secretary ONE MONTH before the scheduled date booked by the individual and avail 50% of the participation fee paid. If such notice is received after the time given no refund will be admissible.
