BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:
Bhrigu Lake, situated at an altitude of 14,000 feet, is a high-altitude alpine lake that remains frozen for most of the year. Deeply rooted in Hindu mythology, it is believed that Sage Bhrigu meditated on the banks of this sacred lake, and many Rishis and Devtas took their baths in its holy waters.
This trek offers a mesmerizing journey through the diverse Himalayan terrain of Manali, passing through idyllic villages and showcasing the exotic flora and fauna of Himachal Pradesh. The steep trail winds through virgin forests and lush green meadows, leading to the beautiful campsite of Rola Kholi.
The trek covers an approximate distance of 25 km, traversing stunning alpine regions, green-carpeted meadows, and view of snowcapped mountains. Along the way, trekkers are treated to magnificent views of colossal peaks such as Hanuman Tibba and the Seven Sisters.
The final leg of the hike takes you through enchanting forests and meadows, with Manali and Solang Valley providing a picturesque backdrop.
DAY WISE SCHEDULE:
Day 1: Reporting at Dobhi Camp, HP
· Arrival: Arrive at the Dobhi Camp, Himachal Pradesh and receive a warm welcome from camp leaders and YHAI officials.
· Orientation: In the evening, enjoy tea and snacks followed by an orientation session. Introductions of participants and officials will be done, along with instructions about the program, what to carry, and information on weather, trails, flora, and fauna.
· Evening: After dinner, participate in recreational activities.
· Overnight Stay: Spend the night at DobhiCamp.
Day 2: Drive from DobhiCamp to Gulaba and Trek to Gulaba Meadows (10300 ft) – 1.5 km
· Morning: After breakfast, depart for Gulaba by vehicle, which will take around 2 hours via the Manali Rohtang Pass Road. Enjoy the fabulous views of forests and snow-capped mountains.
· Midday: The vehicle will drop you at the roadhead near the Gulaba Check post. A short one-hour trek will lead you to the campsite.
· Afternoon: Enjoy the majestic views of the snow-capped mountains.
· Night Stay: Overnight stay in tents at Gulaba Meadows.
Day 3: Trek from Gulaba Meadows to Rola Kholi (12500 ft) – 6 km
· Morning: After breakfast, begin the trek to Rola Kholi Camp with a packed lunch. The trek covers around 6 km and takes approximately 5-6 hours.
· Trail: The trail begins with a steep ascent, so ensure you carry enough water and snacks to stay energized. Witness the vast lush green grasslands, shepherd’s temporary huts with their sheep, horses, and cattle grazing.
· Views: Enjoy breathtaking views of Mt Hanuman Tibba, the Seven Sisters peak, and Beas Kund Valley.
· Evening: Night stay at Rola Kholi Camp.
Day 4: Trek from Rola Kholi to Bhrigu Lake (14000 ft) and Back – 10 km
· Early Morning: Start early with a packed breakfast for the trek to Bhrigu Lake, covering about 10 km round trip with a steep ascent for the first 5 km.
· Bhrigu Lake: Nestled at an altitude of 14,100 ft, the lake is named after Rishi Bhrigu, one of the seven great sages in Hinduism. The terrain near the lake becomes rocky. In June, the trail is usually snow-covered and foggy, so follow the guide’s instructions carefully.
· Afternoon: Spend some time at leisure near Bhrigu Lake, marveling at the natural beauty before heading back to Rola Kholi Camp.
· Evening: Spend your night under the starry skies, followed by dinner and an overnight stay in camps.
Day 5: Trek from Rola Kholi to Gulaba and Drive Back to Dobhi Camp
· Morning: After breakfast, start trekking down towards Gulaba, enjoying the scenic beauty of nature. The descent will take around 4-5 hours.
· Afternoon: Drive back to Base Camp at Dobhi.
· Evening: Participate in recreational activities and a certificate distribution ceremony.
· Overnight Stay: Stay at Dobhi Camp.
Day 6: Check Out
· Morning: After breakfast, the program concludes with lots of memories and happy moments.
· Departure: Normally, Volvo buses depart in the evening from Manali to Chandigarh and Delhi, so trekkers can plan for local sightseeing in Manali and catch a bus in the evening.

Who Can Participate?
This expedition is open to YHAI members who are 18 years and older and physically fit. Participants below 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants above 60 years will be allowed subject to approval from the Programme Coordinator or Authorized Persons in offline mode.
How to Reach the Base Camp
Our base camp is located at Dobhi Distt. Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. Regular bus services are available from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Punjab to Kullu Manali. The nearest railheads are Ambala, Kiratpur Sahib, and Chandigarh. The nearest airport is Bhuntar.
To reach the base camp, ask the driver to stop the bus at YHAI Dobhi Camp on the Delhi-Kullu-Manali National Highway. From there, it’s a 2-minute walk to the base camp.

• Trekking Shoes: Sturdy and comfortable.
• Floaters/Flip Flops: For wearing around the camp.
• Socks: Multiple pairs, including woolen ones for warmth.
• Rain Gear: Raincoat and Poncho.
• Lighting: Torch (flashlight) with extra batteries.
• Food Storage: Lunchbox.
• Hydration: Water bottle.
• Warm Clothing: Woolen garments such as jackets, sweaters, cap, gloves, and extra pairs of socks.
• Sun Protection: Sun cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen cream.
• Skin Care: Moisturizer and lip balm.
• Personal Medical Kit: Essential medications and first aid supplies.
• Hygiene Items: Soap and towel.
• Tech Essentials: Camera and power bank.
• General Clothing: Appropriate clothing layers for various weather conditions. Weather will be around zero to five degrees at higher camps in evening and morning.
• Personal Utilities: Any personal items and utilities needed for the trek.
Exclusions:
1. Travel to Base Camp: Expenses for travel to and from the base camp are not included.
2. Personal Gear: Items such as trekking shoes, personal clothing, and other gear are not provided.
3. Personal Expenses: Costs for items like laundry, phone calls, and any other personal expenses are not covered.
4. Insurance: Personal accident insurance or any other insurance except for the group insurance provided.
5. Additional Food and Beverages: Any food and beverages outside of the provided meals are not included.
6. Medical Expenses: Any medical expenses beyond first aid and basic assistance are not covered.
7. Tips and Gratuities: Tips for guides, porters, and camp staff are not included.
8. Items not mentioned in inclusions.
SAFETY & SECURITY:
Trained and expert camp leaders will be available to provide guidance throughout the trek. Medicines and first aid/basic medical assistance will be available in the camp. While every precaution has been taken to ensure safety of participants, The Youth Hostels Association of India, Delhi State Branch will not be responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen circumstances.
Special Casual leave:
The trekking expedition organized by the Youth Hostels Association of India is approved by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel and Training), Government of India, as per Office Order No. 28016/3/89 Estt (A), dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in Central Government organizations can apply to the concerned authorities to avail special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office for up to 30 days in a calendar year.
Certificates
Participants who successfully complete the trek and adhere to the program’s discipline will be awarded certificates in recognition of their accomplishment.
Additional Notes
Prohibited Substances: Smoking, and the use of alcohol or narcotics in any form is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.
Route Adherence: Participants must adhere to the designated route of the program. Any deviation is not permitted. Participants wishing to join other activities may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after completing the program and checking out.
Accommodation: Staying outside the designated YHAI Camps is not allowed for the entire duration of the trek.
4. Environmental Responsibility: This is an environment-friendly trek. Do not litter or spoil the trail in any way. If you come across any litter, such as wrappers or plastic bags left by previous trekkers, please carry them with you and deposit them at the next camp.
Campfire Rules: Burning of wood during campfires is strictly prohibited to prevent deforestation and environmental damage.

A medical certificate is compulsory and must be submitted at the time of reporting for the trek.
Cancellation
CANCELLATION POLICY
1. Cancellation by the participants: In case you are unable to join the trek, you will receive a 50% refund of the program fee, which amounts to ?4250/-, provided that your cancellation request is received on or before 31st May 2025. Any cancellation requests received after this date will not be considered for a refund.
2. Cancellation by the organization: In case the cancellation due to natural calamity, government restrictions, cancellation of permissions, or any other unforeseen circumstances, YHAI will be accountable only for the program fees. Other expenses incurred by participants for joining the program will not be covered. In such situations, the decision regarding the refund of participation fees will be made by YHAI and will be final and binding on all participants.
