Location : Kullu (HP)
 
Flora and Faluna : The common trees in the Kullu hills belong to the conifer species (deodar, pine, spruce, fir). Several species of medicinal plants like Hath Panja (Dactylorhiza hatageria) and Brahma Kamal (Saussurea obvallata) grow luxuriously in the valley. The valley is known for the presence of the , the Himalayan brown bear and the Himalayan Thar. The Western Tragopan (the state bird of Himachal Pradesh) and the Monal pheasant are the prominent birds species found in the region.
 
Highest Altitude Gain : 12,000 Feet
 
Note:- These programs are exclusively for YHAI members. Membership is also available at Base Camp/Online/State Branch/Units and YHAI Trekking expeditions are not subsidized by the Government or any donors.
 
BEFORE BOOK THE PROGRAMME KINDLY READ THE PROGRAMME DETAILS CAREFULLY
 
Itinerary:
 
Day1: Reporting at 14 mile, Kullu-Manali and orientation in the evening.5 p.m.
Day2: By Bus from 14 mile base camp to lahoul via Atal tunnel on return solang nala visit and return 14 mile base camp
Day3: Transfer by transport from 14 mile to Rumsu village (9 km). And trek from Rumsu to Ghankuladi (5 km). Night stay in the Tented accommodation, on a sharing basis
Day4: Trek from Ghankuladi to Naya Tapru (5km).and return for Lunch and after that trek from Ghankuladi to Rumsu, downhill 5 km and Transfer from rumsu village to 14 Mile base camp. (On the way Visit nagger Castle and Art gallery) night stay at base camp,
Day 5: Check out after evening tea 4.00p.m.
(Due to any natuaral calamity the route of the program may change with due regards to the safety of participants)
 
* How To Reach:
 
14 Miles is 20 kms from Kullu. Arya Hotel near on the Delhi- Kullu Manali National Highway. With a panoramic view of surrounding mountains.Regular bus services are available for Kullu from Delhi,Chandigarh & Punjab. Every bus from Kullu to Manali is passed from 14 miles. The nearest Railway Stations are Ambala & Chandigarh & the nearest Airport is Bhuntar.
 
* Who can Participate:
 
The minimum and maximum age for an YHAI member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and over age will not be considered in any case. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a Trekking Medical Certificate.
 
What participants should bring along: Rucksack (if You have one), Walking stick, Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks 3pr Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Lunch box ,Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet, Medicines (As per your personal requirement, which you regularly use at home and Crepe Bandage 4in*1, Micropore tape 1/2inch*1, Bandaids, Cough lozenges/ Kanthil or other, Vicks Vaporub, Coldarin, Clotrimazole cream and powder, Paracetamol*10 Mupirocin cream, Diclofenac gel, Lopamide*10, Azithromycin and Electral), Camera with extra batteries.
 
* How to Participate:
 
Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply online by paying program fee along with online booking amount rs 7500/- .
 
We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.
After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry Admit Card, Trekking Medical Certificate’ & Membership Card (Print out of temporary membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.
 
Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply on the prescribed “Trekking Registration Form” duly supported by a Trekking Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.7500/- in favour of Trekking Medical Certificate payable at New Delhi. The Trekking registration Form, Trekking Medical Form and DD may be sent to following address:

* Special Casual leave:
 
The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India has the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
 
Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities.
 
Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship. Applicant has to submit the salary certificate/ PAN Card copy of their parents. In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
 
Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women : YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document (SALARY CERTIFICATE & PAN CARD DETAILS) & certificates through their respective State Branch.
 
* Notice to Participant for any illness or injury: YHAI Group Insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take personal insurance cover for your journey and other related matters. Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
 
Cancellation
 
Cancellation Method:
 
1) Participants booked online will do online cancellation minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.
2) Participants booked offline will inform their cancellation by email to trekking@yhaindia.org minimum 10 days prior to your reporting date.
Only cancellation done as per above method will be eligible for credit shell/refund. The below cancellation policy will however not be applicable if the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date and shall not be eligible for credit shell/refund.
 
Cancellation Policy:
 
The Participant, who cancels the programme by serving request minimum 10 days prior to his/her reporting date as per above terms and conditions of “Cancellation Method”, is eligible to get the credit shell or refund as follows:
 
(a) Credit Shell:-
 
1) In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2025.
2) If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2025.
3) If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.
4) Program opted using the Credit Shell cannot be cancelled again.
5) You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also. The seats thus transferred cannot be retransferred or cancelled.
6) The credit shell can only be used in booking of adventure programs organized by YHAI. The credit shell will not be used in taking memberships and hostel bookings.
 
OR
 
(b) Refund:-
 
Participants can opt for a 50% refund instead of 100% credit shell if they wish to. The conditions of “Cancellation Method” will be the same as mentioned above. The participant has to inform either offline or online minimum 10 days prior to his reporting date. If the request reaches short of 10 days prior to the reporting date the refund request shall not be considered.
 
Note: If any program will be cancelled due to Natural Calamity / Government Restriction / Cancellation of Permission or any other reasons, YHAI will be accountable only for program fees and not other expenses which participants have made for joining the program. In these circumstances the decision for participation fees will be considered by the YHAI and will be bound to all.
