The fort & town of JAISALMER was founded by Maharawal Jaisal in the year 1156 AD after having shifted his capital from Ludharva (18 Kms away from Jaisalmer) to a safer place.

Breif Description Of The Program: The fort & town of JAISALMER was founded by Maharawal Jaisal in the year 1156 AD after having shifted his capital from Ludharva (18 Kms away from Jaisalmer) to a safer place. The ruling family of the erstwhile Jaisalmer State belongs to Bhati Clan of Yadu Rajputs of Chandrawasnshi (Lunar) race who claim descent from Lord Krishna,the defied hero who ruled at Dwarka. The historical origin of Bhatis can be inferred from the couplet which says that the Yadu Rajputs ruled and constructed Forts at Kashi,Mathura, Pragvad, Gajni,Bhatner,Digam,Dirwal,Lodurva and ninth in Jaisalmer. (Gajni is in Afghanistan and Dirawal is now in Pakistan).
This district has got a very important place on The international tourist map. Popularly known as the “Golden City”,it has the following attraction of the tourist importance.

All these monuments have the unique stone carving on yellow stone. The whole city is constructed with yellow stone.

The folk Music with traditional instruments and the folk dances are very popular and fascinating. The cultural programmes performed by these artistes have special attraction for the tourists.
 
Day Wise Schedule: National Desert Trekking Cum Training Exp-2024-25 Schedule
Day 1 : Report At Base Camp Border Home Guard Ground Jaisalmer.
Day 2 : Visit city by own. After lunch Transfer to Damodara Resort (25KM) by BUS then Trek to Kharara Camp 03KM.
Day 3 : Trek to Sam Sand Dunes – 14KM
Day 4 : Camel Safari (10KM) Sam Sand Dunes Camp to khabha lake and Trek to Khabha Fort and trek to KHABHA Camp (03KM).
Day 5 : Trek KHABHA Camp to Kubharkotha Murar Mahadev Temple (14KM).
Day 6 : Transfer to Base camp Border Home Guard Ground Jaisalmer By Bus Via The heritage Empty Village Kuldhara and Group Breaks after Lunch.

How To Reach The Base Camp: Base Camp for the program is established at The Border Home Guard Ground, Jaisalmer 2 KM from Bus stand and 4 KM from Railway Station. Jaisalmer is connected by train service with Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hawra, Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner. It is also connected by Road with delhi, ahmedabad, kutch, pune, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer & Udaipur. Regular Flight from :- Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Delhi & Jaipur.
 
How To Join: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form Duly supported by Medical Certificate which is available from Units/State Branches and National Office.
 
Who Can Participate: Minimum age to participate in this expedition is 10 Years. The age restriction will be strictly followed.

Safety & Security: Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of camping program for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have visited the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the youth hostels association of India or its Rajasthan State Branch not be responsible for any accident, Illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
 
Cancellation Rules:
In case you are unable to join the camp and wish to cancel your participation, Your application must reach the concern offices, before 04th Dec.2024. In this case you will get 50% refund after completion of programme. If such notice received after 04th Dec. 2024 No refund will be given.
Where To Apply For Cancellation:-
1. Offline applicants should send their cancellation request in writing & email with admit card copy directly to the office of YHAI, RAJASTHAN STATE BRANCH.
2. Online applicants should contact and send their request to YHAI, National Office, New Delhi only. No enquiries to Rajasthan State Branch Office. It would not be entertained strictly.
